Some Might Say

Another song from Noel's acoustic repertoire, beautifully tender and thoughtful. It derives from a Texas studio session. Noel was back after his brief flounce from the band on a US tour.
Noel: "Me and Liam had a disagreement, probably about what shoes he was wearing, so I'd fucked off to Las Vegas. I probably finished it off in Texas where we were due to record B-sides for Whatever but when we recorded it we pushed it forward to go on Some Might Say. I met this Oasis fan from San Fransisco while on our travels and she was addicted to strawberry lemonade so that's why that's in there, and she took us around playgrounds where she use to play as a kid. It's quite melancholic but uplifting in the same way."
The line: 'Sleeping on a plane, you know you can't complain.' is taken from Nirvana's On A Plain.

lyrics

Sitting on my own, chewing on a bone
A thousand million miles from home
When something hit me
Somewhere right between the eyes
Sleeping on a plane, you know you can't complain
You took your last chance, once again
I landed, stranded, hardly even knew your name

I wanna talk tonight
Until the morning light
About how you saved my life
And you and me see how we are

All your dreams are made of strawberry lemonade
And you make sure I eat today
You take me walking
To where you played when you were young
I'll never say that I won't ever make you cry
And this I say I don't why
I know I'm leaving, but I'll be back another day
