Stay Young was ear-marked to be the "Digsy's Dinner" of Be Here Now, but Noel dumped it. Stay Young wound up on D'You Know What I Mean?, and could have been another a-side if its composer had actually liked the song. But he doesn't (audiences who have more sense than songwriters, all love it.) Noel: "I don't like it. I wrote it by mistake for the last album. Why it didn't go on the album is because I wrote Magic pie. Sounds like the Kinks I think. I don't like the guitar solo on it. I don't like the sound of it either. That's one of the first ones we recorded for Be here now and I think we did it in Abbey Road coz when you start doing an album you usually start out with the ones you like the least just to get into it." Is also available on the soundtrack to The Faculty. |
